Description
Product description
EMCgear PNFA is a portable near-field analyzer and RF power meter designed for fast EMI troubleshooting and comparative RF measurements from 1 MHz to 4 GHz.
It combines calibrated RF power measurement with selectable input filtering, direct numerical indication and intuitive visual, acoustic and haptic feedback. The compact battery-powered design makes PNFA particularly suitable for development laboratories, EMC debugging, pre-compliance investigation and quick measurements directly at the device under test.
Four selectable RF filter paths divide the operating range into practical frequency bands corresponding to CISPR bands B, C, D and E. Full-band operation can automatically compare the available bands, while fixed-frequency high-precision mode applies frequency-dependent correction when the signal frequency is known.
Measurements can be displayed directly on the integrated OLED in Numeric or Graph mode. For extended monitoring, recording and analysis, PNFA can be connected by USB to the downloadable PNFA Monitor application for Windows.

Measurement modes
Wideband / Filter mode
PNFA provides four selectable input-filter paths covering the complete operating range. Individual bands can be selected manually, or Full band mode can compare all four paths and indicate the strongest result.
Fixed frequency / High precision mode
For signals with a known frequency, the frequency can be entered from 1 to 4000 MHz. PNFA automatically selects the corresponding RF path and applies frequency-dependent measurement correction.
Numeric and Graph display
Numeric mode provides a large direct level indication and live level bar. Graph mode displays signal level versus time and is useful for observing variations while moving a near-field probe or monitoring intermittent RF activity.
Acoustic and haptic feedback
Signal level can be followed without continuously watching the display. Audio pitch or Geiger-style click rate and haptic pulse density increase with signal level, making PNFA particularly convenient for locating emission hot spots.

Near-field probe kit NFPP
The optional NFPP Near-Field Probe Kit is designed for practical localization and comparison of electromagnetic emission sources together with PNFA.
The set contains four near-field probes:
- H-field probe – 6 mm sensing loop diameter
Small magnetic-field loop intended for high spatial resolution and precise localization of individual traces, component pins, switching nodes and other concentrated current paths. - H-field probe – 12 mm sensing loop diameter
Medium-size magnetic-field loop providing a practical compromise between spatial resolution and sensitivity for general PCB-level EMI troubleshooting. - H-field probe – 21 mm sensing loop diameter
Large magnetic-field loop intended for faster scanning of larger PCB areas and detection of weaker or more spatially distributed magnetic-field sources. - E-field probe – 4 mm sensing tip length
Electric-field probe intended for locating areas with strong electric-field coupling, including high-voltage nodes, clock signals, switching nodes and other high-impedance RF sources.
The three H-field loop sizes allow the measurement approach to be progressively refined: a larger loop can first be used for rapid area scanning, followed by smaller loops for increasingly precise localization of the emission source.
The NFPP probe set is included with the PNFA Near Field Kit and PNFA Complete Kit variants.
Optional 20 dB RF attenuator
An external RF attenuator is available for measurements requiring additional input attenuation.
| Nominal attenuation | 20 dB |
| Frequency range | DC to 6 GHz |
| Peak power rating | Max. 10 W |
| Long-term power rating | Typ. 2 W |
| SWR | ≤ 1.25 |
The attenuator is included with the PNFA RF Power Kit and PNFA Complete Kit variants.
